Project Description
An ambitious proposal to create a Communal Urban Development on a former industrial site in an older part of the city centre. Initially, the design focuses on incorporating the various functional requirements for eight new dwellings.

Careful consideration is required regarding access & security.

The preferred design is an inward facing courtyard with a communal garden area at the centre of the development, providing an attractive area to mix with fellow residents & enjoy fresh air & sunshine.

Single storey houses with one bedroom will be ideal for the older residents who will be the prospective target market.

Elevations facing the inward courtyard feature multiple windows / glazing to enable connection to the attractive centre space.

When the original site falls through, another more challenging site on an irregular shaped plot requires a significant scheme revision. The new design reduces to six dwellings but still provides the necessary communal areas to & responds to the shape of the site maximising every possible space. Initial positive feedback from Planners means the client is encouraged to secure the requisite funding to proceed with the proposed development.
