Project Description

Warwickshire County Cricket Club wanted to build a new Indoor Cricket Cente on the site at Edgbaston Cricket Ground. The final design won several regional & national design awards, including an RIBA Award.

Numerous environmental principles were developed & employed to create a low energy, low maintenance building which enabled the client to secure Sports Lottery Funding & reduce running costs.

The project was unique in also receiving Arts Lottery Funding which facilitated collaboration with a poet & local artists that added interest & aesthetic appeal to a terracotta plane of wall on the East Elevation.

The centre provides eight lanes for cricket practice & is used both by professionals & various community groups of all ages.

In addition to the practice space and changing rooms, the building accommodates office space, a shop and a function room, a bar with views into the practice area and a top floor outdoor terrace.
