Project Description
Located at the former park-keeper’s lodge in Victoria Park, the Smethweick Heritage Centre stores & displays items of historical interest & significance.

Having raised the necessary funding & looking to gain much needed extra space, it was very important to the society that a fresh modern new building would still blend with the existing structure.

Careful planning of the functional areas in both the new & existing building was required to ensure the optimal use of space.

Lots of artefacts & memorabilia need to be displayed in purpose built cabinets.

The space must allow for the flow of the centre’s visitors & the presentation of information is paramount to providing a successful experience.

Ultimately, this museum in the park is about preserving local heritage & providing a comfortable environment which allows people to explore interesting information & captivating objects from a bygone age.
